If you searched for how to add a Shop Now button on Instagram, the current Shopify terminology matters: Shopify documents a View Shop entry for an Instagram profile, while its documented Shop Now button is for a Facebook Page. You cannot add an arbitrary permanent button with a custom label to every Instagram profile or post.
For Instagram, the native path is Instagram Shopping: connect an eligible professional Instagram account to Shopify through the Facebook and Instagram by Meta sales channel, sync an approved catalog, and tag products where the current Instagram composer makes the feature available. A shopper can open your profile shop or tap a product tag, then continue to your Shopify website to complete the purchase.
If you meant the Facebook Page button, read Shopify’s Facebook Shop instructions. If you meant a paid-ad call to action, configure that separately in Meta Ads Manager.
The phrases describe related but different surfaces:
The exact labels and available controls can change by account, market, app version, and rollout. Use the current controls shown in your Instagram and Shopify admin rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Instagram Shopping is controlled by Meta and Shopify eligibility checks. Before installing the channel, confirm that you have:
The search-volume regions used for this guide—United States and India—indicate where people searched for the topic. They do not prove that every account in either region can use Instagram Shopping.
Use this order so catalog problems are found before you try to tag a product.
Shopify’s current Instagram Shopping documentation explicitly covers product tags in Instagram posts and image Stories. Product data is sourced from the catalog, so edit the product in Shopify and publish/sync changes there rather than maintaining a second Instagram description.
After approval and catalog sync, create or edit an Instagram post and use the current Tag products control if it is available on the account. Search for the catalog item, select the correct product, and choose the correct variant when a Shopify product has multiple variants. Preview the post, publish it, and test the tag from a customer-facing account where possible.
For the platform-owned instructions, see Instagram’s Add shopping tags to Instagram posts help entry.
Use the shopping sticker in an image Story when the account and catalog are eligible. Shopify currently notes that product tagging in Stories is available for image Story posts, not video Stories. See Instagram’s Stories help for the current composer flow.
Do not assume that every Reel can be product-tagged through Shopify. Shopify’s current Instagram Shopping page documents posts and Stories, while Reels features can vary by account, market, surface, and rollout. If your current Instagram composer offers a product-tag option for a Reel, follow the controls and eligibility checks shown there. If it does not, use a compliant profile link or another available website path instead.
There is no reliable reason to publish a universal product-tag limit, approval time, or “highest reach” promise here. Those details can change and should be confirmed in the current Instagram UI or official documentation before you plan a campaign.
For the Instagram Shopping flow documented by Shopify, the shopper selects a tagged product or opens View Shop, then chooses Checkout on seller’s website and is redirected to your Shopify online store. This is product discovery and tagging on Instagram followed by checkout on your website; it is not a promise of universal native in-app checkout.
As of August 26, 2025, Shopify says merchants are responsible for collecting sales tax on orders from the Facebook and Instagram sales channel, configuring Shopify tax settings, and filing and remitting taxes according to local requirements. Review Shopify’s tax and checkout considerations before launch.
Shopify also documents a separate Meta direct-checkout feature with its own eligibility requirements, including selling to customers in the United States. Do not use that separate feature as evidence that every Instagram Shopping tag uses in-app checkout.
The United States and India are the initial SEO markets for this guide, but platform availability is not determined by keyword research. For either market:
Meta’s India commerce update provides broader context about shopping and creator commerce in India, but it does not replace the account-level eligibility check for a Shopify Instagram Shop.
You can still create a useful, policy-compliant path to purchase:
Do not use a VPN, false business details, a borrowed account, or a foreign entity formed solely to evade Meta eligibility. If the feature is unavailable, use the official appeal/support route or the website path above.
Vizup is complementary to native Instagram Shopping. Meta and Shopify control Instagram Shopping approval, the Meta catalog, profile shop discovery, and native Instagram product tags. Vizup does not enable, approve, or override those controls.
Vizup helps after you have video content—or when you want your website to do more of the selling:
If you want to try the on-site workflow, add Vizup to your Shopify store or book a product demo. Install Vizup for the Shopify experience; keep Instagram Shopping setup and eligibility with Shopify and Meta.
For broader context, continue with how to sell on Instagram with Shopify, how to sell on Instagram, Instagram post ideas for Shopify brands, Instagram Reels ideas for ecommerce, and influencer product reviews.
If the View Shop entry or product-tag controls are missing, check these in order:
If the error remains, capture the exact message, check Shopify’s onboarding and error guidance, and use the support path shown in Shopify or Meta. Avoid repeatedly disconnecting accounts without recording which Page, portfolio, catalog, and store are connected.
Track the funnel as separate steps rather than treating a profile visit as a sale:
Use Google Search Console to monitor this guide’s impressions and queries for the “Shop Now”/“View Shop” wording, Instagram posts, Reels, product tagging, and Shopify variants. Reassess performance after 28 days before creating another page for a close keyword.
Not as a guaranteed custom button. Shopify documents a Shop Now button for a Facebook Page; on Instagram, the native shopping path is an eligible profile shop reached through View Shop plus product tags in supported content.
Yes. Shopify’s current Instagram Shopping flow sends the shopper to the seller’s Shopify website to complete checkout, and merchants remain responsible for current tax configuration and compliance.
Shopify currently documents product tagging in posts and image Stories, not a universal Shopify-admin workflow for every Reel. Check the current Instagram composer and account eligibility before relying on Reel product tagging.
Availability depends on the current supported-market list and the individual account’s Meta and Shopify eligibility checks. The United States and India keyword regions do not guarantee access for every merchant.
